Rain at Night

In its own shadow,

Earth stretches and sighs;

Removed from the sun,

Contented it lies.

So peaceful and cool

So quiet and still;

All nature's at rest,

All's silent and chilled.

Rain falls so gently,

She lulls the parched ground,

Brings rhythm to night;

A soothing, sweet sound.

She whispers of sleep,

When falling on trees,

She whispers of dreams,

She whispers of peace.

Rain's softly singing,

Night's blanket pulled 'round;

Raindrops are dancing,

Soft'ning the ground.

Rain's singing faster,

It's sound now a hiss;

Trees reaching higher,

Drops shattered to mist.

Now falling softer.

Feel the hushed pleasure;

Rain soft in moonlight,

Peaces' own measure.
