About 1134

 

1134 was inspired by Edgar Allen Poe's short stories, and the book Crime and Punishment. I am a little frightened to find out that I have it in me to write such disturbing prose, but after the idea came to me in the fall quarter of 1998, it wouldn't leave me alone. I knew I would have to write it eventually. I ended up writing it in January, 1999, soon after I returned from Christmas break. It's a departure from what I've been writing lately, but I want to explore the limits of my writing abilities.
